La Jolla is more than where I practice. It’s where my family and I live, where we’ve raised our children, and a community I’m proud to be part of. That makes caring for the smiles here especially meaningful to me.

At La Jolla Village Orthodontics, Dr. Katherine Wong and I have built our practice around a simple philosophy: exceptional orthodontic care should also feel personal. We want our patients to receive the expertise, precision, and attention to detail they expect, while still feeling known every time they walk through our doors.

A shared approach to exceptional care

Dr. Wong and I are both board-certified orthodontists, and while our paths into the profession were different, we share the same commitment to thoughtful, individualized treatment. I completed my advanced orthodontic training at the University of Southern California, where I later had the opportunity to teach future orthodontists as a clinical instructor. Throughout my career, continuing education has remained incredibly important to me. Orthodontics continues to evolve, and I believe our patients deserve care informed by both experience and the latest proven approaches.

Dr. Wong, a San Diego native, was drawn to orthodontics because of the unique way it brings together science, medicine, and artistry. She also completed her orthodontic specialty training at USC and brings an incredibly considered eye to every case.

Together, we look beyond simply straightening teeth. We consider bite, function, facial balance, aesthetics, and long-term stability to create a smile that feels right for each individual patient.

One of the things I value most about our La Jolla practice is its intimate feel.

Orthodontic treatment is a relationship. We may see you regularly for months or even years, and during that time, we get to know far more than your teeth. We learn about school, careers, families, milestones, vacations, and everything happening between appointments. Our team shares that philosophy. We want every visit to feel organized and seamless, but never impersonal. Small details, from familiar faces welcoming you into the office to TVs at our treatment chairs, are all part of creating an experience that feels comfortable and considered.

Whether I’m treating a child from the neighborhood, a busy teenager, or an adult who has been thinking about orthodontics for years, I want them to feel that their care is truly their own.

At La Jolla Village Orthodontics, we care for children, teens, and adults with treatment options including Invisalign clear aligners, traditional and ceramic braces, and early interceptive orthodontics.

Digital tools such as iTero scanning allow us to gather precise information and plan treatment in greater detail, but technology is only as valuable as the expertise guiding it. Every recommendation Dr. Wong and I make starts with the individual in front of us. We consider your clinical needs, your goals, your lifestyle, and the timing of treatment before recommending a path forward. For younger patients especially, that sometimes means treatment now, and sometimes it means simply monitoring growth until the timing is right.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to a great smile, and I don’t believe there should be.
